“Hands on!” – “Interactive!” – “I learned about so many tropical diseases!” – “I feel I am more equipped to serve on the mission field than ever before.” (comments from previous course participants)

Prepare to provide quality care in resource-limited cross-cultural settings. Designed for all healthcare providers and students, the Village Healthcare Intensive is divided in two sections that may be taken together or separately. We recommend taking the sections sequentially.

Section 1 – Global Health Principles and Practice – June 20-24, 2017
How do we evaluate malnutrition? What are the World Health Organization guidelines for maternal and child care? Gain resources and skills to apply international standards for whole-person care in developing communities. Lectures, discussions, case studies, and workshops highlight approaches to evaluation and management with limited resources and practical skills such as suturing.

Section 2 – Tropical Medicine Overview – June 26-30, 2017
From Ascariasis to Zika, this section offers an overview of common tropical diseases in a case-based format. Enhance your approach to pathologies causing morbidity and mortality in developing communities and augment your clinical acumen with contextually appropriate education and development techniques.
