Community Health Evangelism Training of Trainers 1
Looking for relevant, sustainable, reproducible approaches to address community health and development that are adaptable across multiple settings? CHE provides a strategy for community based transformational development founded on the core values of integration and wholism, commitment to the poor and marginalized, long-term solutions, local ownership and initiative, participatory learning, multiplication, servant leadership, and contextualization.
On August 20-24, 2018, Christian Health Service Corps (CHSC) will present “Community Health Evangelism Training of Trainers 1.” Participants in this highly interactive CHE Training of Trainers 1 (CHE TOT1) will learn approaches to teaching physical and spiritual topics that equip individuals and communities to identify issues and mobilize resources for positive growth and development. Participatory learning activities are employed through large and small group discussions, various hands-on activities, and methods that can be replicated in the community setting. Upon completion of the CHE TOT1, participants will become members of the Global CHE Network and receive the CHE Lesson Plan Flash Drive with access to more than 10,000 lessons and teaching aids. The Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF) works with local churches in developing countries and supporting partners in the U.S. to build sustainable medical ministries serving the most vulnerable and marginalized populations. Nurses play a critical role in the delivery of essential health services and in strengthening health care systems. The Mary K Center for Global Nursing Development was established to improve nursing education so that nurses in the most vulnerable countries have the skills, competencies, clinical knowledge and judgement to handle the complexity of the unique healthcare challenges facing the populations they serve. They are also trained and empowered to be leaders to help improve the quality of care and advocate for better clinical outcomes in their countries.

Tropical Surgery, Obstetrics, and Gynecology CME Conference 2018 – Deadline to register is June 1st
Surgeons of all specialties who are interested in international work are invited to attend the Tropical Surgery, Obstetrics, and Gynecology skills course at Baylor College of Medicine, which will be held on September 10-15, 2018, in Houston, Texas. This course will provide dedicated training in emergency and essential skills for those who practice or plan to practice in low-resource settings for any period of time.
Participants will receive 43 CME credits for attendance. If participant chooses to take and pass the end-of-course exam, they will also receive a Certificate in Tropical Surgery, Obstetrics, and Gynecology. It is recommended for those who are in obstetrics/gynecology to select the general surgery track, and for general surgeons to select the OB/Gyn track.

Introduction to Disaster and Refugee Response: Sphere International Standards
Daily headlines of disasters and crises can overwhelm or prompt us to action. How can we respond well? Open to anyone, this program empowers participants to effectively contribute to global response efforts through knowledge and application of life-saving and dignity-upholding measures as outlined in the Sphere Handbook: Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response. Developed by the international response community, the Sphere Handbook puts affected populations and the right to life with dignity at the center of humanitarian response. It focuses on quality, accountability, and collaboration. Interactive sessions contextualize universal minimum standards, key actions, and key indicators and cover four core life-saving areas: water supply, sanitation and hygiene promotion; food security and nutrition; shelter, settlement and non-food items; and health action. Program participants will gain resources to put principles into practice, engage with coordinated relief efforts, minister to affected populations, and maintain resilience.
