Philip Keiser, MD
Dr. Keiser primary interest has been the care and treatment of HIV and its related infections. He has been actively treating HIV infected individuals for over 30 years. He is the Director of the Ryan White Clinic in Galveston and the Lead Physician for the regional AIDS EDUCATION and TRAINING CENTER.
He has significant experience in HIV Care, Treatment and Clinical Research in sub-Saharan Africa. He was Medical Technical Advisor for PEPFAR (The U.S. Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) and helped establish HIV Clinics throughout east Africa. He is involved in the Global Health Program and regularly takes students and residents to Kenya.
Dr. Keiser is the Director of the UTMB Antibiotic Stewardship Program. This program seeks to optimize the use of antibiotic across the health system and utilizes both Implementation Research and Outcomes Research techniques.
Dr. Keiser is also the Local Health Authority for Galveston County.
